Pivot started with a broken coffee grinder.
Matt Pierson has spent fifteen years in coffee. In 2014, he helped open Tailored Coffee Roasters in Eugene, Oregon — building a roasting program from the ground up and falling deeper into the craft along the way. After a lifetime in the Pacific Northwest, he traded rain for high desert, landing in Santa Fe in 2022 with a fresh perspective and an itch to start something new.
He started fixing espresso equipment around town, which is how he met Jacob and Mayme at Bread Shop. One repair led to Saturday pop-ups on their back patio — which led to a permanent spot inside the bakery on Lena Street.
Today, Pivot is a small-batch roasting operation and espresso stand tucked inside Bread Shop. We roast locally, source thoughtfully, and serve coffee in handmade cups from Whiskey + Clay across the street.
Lena Street has become a gathering spot for locals — a creative stretch of studios, shops, and cafés away from the tourist crowds. We're proud to be part of it.
Stop by for a cup. We're here Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 3pm.
